Guatemala Huehuetenango CODECH Cooperative - 12oz.

Aromas of ripe fruit and brown sugar perfume the sweet tangy acidity and well- structured body. Heady flavors of honey, strawberry, and orange are reminiscent of baked summer pastries.

From the CODECH coffee cooperative in the highlands of Huehuetenango, Guatemala, comes a coffee that is the very best we’ve encountered from a cooperative this large in the region. The cooperative members are all either Mam or Popti indigenous Mayans. Each day throughout the harvest, the coffee pickers (sometimes this is one person, sometimes an entire family of different generations) transport their fresh-off-the-tree cherries to the wet mill of CODECH (Coordinadora de Organizaciones de Desarrollo e Concepción Huista) in the town of Huista. As an organic Fair Trade Cooperative, CODECH plays a vital role in helping to provide higher income for its members. CODECH actively works to improve wages for these families and to provide excellent coffee for the market.
